NameDrop on Itslearning

Status

Documented for Itslearning cloud (LTI 1.3). Not yet verified end-to-end. Some Itslearning tenants require their support team to whitelist new external tools — confirm with Itslearning support before quoting an installation timeline.

What you’ll get

Itslearning supports two placement types:

1. Course tool — NameDrop appears as an activity inside any course. Course-scoped.
2. Personal Toolbar — NameDrop appears in every user’s top navigation bar across all courses.

Setup (one-time, by Itslearning admin)

Step 1: Get your NameDrop credentials

In your NameDrop dashboard at https://app.namedrop.io/integrations, click Connect Itslearning. Note the URLs.

Step 2: Whitelist NameDrop with Itslearning support (if required)

Some Itslearning tenants require Itslearning to whitelist new external tools before they can be registered. Contact your Itslearning customer success team and provide the NameDrop tool URL: https://lti.namedrop.io/lti/launch.

Step 3: Register NameDrop as an External Tool Provider

1. Administration → External Tool Providers.
2. Click Register New Tool.
3. Fill in:
   • Name: NameDrop
   • Tool URL: https://lti.namedrop.io/lti/launch
   • OIDC Login URL: https://lti.namedrop.io/lti/login
   • JWKS URL: https://lti.namedrop.io/jwks/{your-tenant-id}
   • Placement: Course (default) — switch to Personal Toolbar for per-user placement.
4. Save.

Step 4: Add Personal Toolbar placement (optional)

Repeat Step 3 with these adjustments:

• Placement: Personal Toolbar
• Custom Parameters: view=record-my-name
• Itslearning may issue a separate Client ID for this placement; register it as a second tenant in your NameDrop dashboard.

Step 5: Connect to your NameDrop tenant

In your NameDrop dashboard, paste the Client ID(s) Itslearning issued.

FAQ

Q: Does Personal Toolbar open inline? A: Personal Toolbar links open in a new browser tab by default in Itslearning. Course-scoped tools open inline (iframe).

Q: Are NameDrop and Itslearning integration verified yet? A: Documented but not yet end-to-end verified.

Q: How do I uninstall? A: Administration → External Tool Providers → NameDrop → Delete. Disconnect in your NameDrop dashboard.
