NameDrop on Schoology

Schoology supports two placement types:

  1. Course App — NameDrop appears in course materials, instructor-controlled per course.
  2. Personal App — NameDrop appears on each user’s personal dashboard, available across all courses.

Both can be installed simultaneously.

In your NameDrop dashboard at https://app.namedrop.io/integrations, click Connect Schoology. Note the URLs.

  1. System SettingsApp Center.
  2. Click Install a New App.
  3. Provide:
    • App Name: NameDrop
    • App Type: External Tool (LTI 1.3)
    • Redirect URIs: https://lti.namedrop.io/lti/launch
    • OIDC Login URI: https://lti.namedrop.io/lti/login
    • JWKS URI: https://lti.namedrop.io/jwks/{your-tenant-id}
  4. Save. Schoology issues a Client ID.

After registering, you can install NameDrop as:

Course App:

  • App Center → NameDrop → Install for Course
  • Choose courses or “All Courses”

Personal App:

  • App Center → NameDrop → Install for User
  • For per-user placement, also add view=record-my-name in Custom Parameters so the recorder view shows.
  • Schoology issues a separate Client ID for the Personal App. Register it as a second tenant in your NameDrop dashboard.

In your NameDrop dashboard, paste the Client ID(s) Schoology issued.

Q: Why does the Personal App need a separate tenant in NameDrop? A: Schoology issues a unique Client ID per app installation. Course Apps and Personal Apps have different Client IDs, and each maps to its own NameDrop tenant. Both share your organization’s lookup, so user data is consistent across them.

Q: Are NameDrop and Schoology integration verified yet? A: Documented but not yet end-to-end verified.

Q: How do I uninstall? A: App Center → NameDrop → Uninstall. Repeat for each placement (Course App, Personal App). Disconnect in your NameDrop dashboard.
